2021 – Douglas Martin

Doug started bowling at the age of 9 and won many championships and tournaments as a youth bowler.  While attending Western KY. University he won the University Intramural Champshipos three years in a row.  As an adult league bowler, he achieved numerous league and individual champions awards.  Bowling for over 20 years at the ABC National Tournament he finished in 7th place in singles in 1985.  He had a career-high game of 300 and a high series of 757.

As a proprietor, he organized numerous youth leagues and tournaments and awarded thousands of scholarship dollars.  He was also the first in the area to organize high school leagues with a championship tournament.  Recently he set up a $1,000,000 scholarship fund at Northern Kentucky University for local students to bowl on their college team while attending.

From 1982-1987 with a huge financial risk, he contracted with the PBS to bring the Tour to our area for the first time including a national tour stop broadcast worldwide on ESPN.  Pro bowlers such as Dick Weber, Peter Weber, Marshall Holman, and many other great pros competed.  The Pro-Ams featured many Reds and Bengals payers participating in including Johnny Bench and Chris Collinsworth and raised thousands of dollars for local charities.

During his 17 year administration as President of the Northern Kentucky BPA he started the Northern Kentucky BPA Merit Tournament and the NOrth Kentucky BPA “Stars of TV Bowling” tournament which were broadcast on NKY cable for over 15 years.  With that experience, the Greater Cincinnati BPA elected him Advertising Charman to solicit sponsorships for the “King of TV Bowling” show to remain on the air.
